About the Study
Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease in the world. The majority of those who have undergone prosthetic surgery report reduced pain, improved mobility, and better quality of life. However, it is not fully understood how and to what extent activity and movement patterns change after joint replacement surgery. Digital tools such as smartphones and watches provide us with new opportunities to get an accurate picture of people's physical activity over a longer period than is possible with other methods such as self-assessment or gait analysis in a laboratory. With this in mind, we will develop an iPhone application that records movement data before and after joint replacement surgery in the hip and knee.
